Personally speaking, when I was a young and wanted to read stories about prosperous, middle class, white anglo-saxon, priviledged children who, not only had holidays, but had wonderful adventure holidays, I always enjoyed the Famous Five books more than the Secret Seven.
Possibly the 5 having an uncle called, incredibly, 'Quentin' might have made the difference for me.
However I think this may be a topic for another forum never mind another thread.
