MFG Tool displays HID compliant device if your connected device is in download mode.
In order to set it in download mode you either have to use particular button combination during boot process or using "adb reboot download" command after setting your device in USB debugging mode and connecting it to a pc with ADB software. Somehow you managed to install 4.4, so I assume you are familiar with it.
If you have tried different methods to connect your device to a PC and the connection always fails (except charging), the problem could be in the defective USB port. If you want we could check and fix it in our lab. Just contact our store using
