I was just comparing the same function.
Personally I do prefer to turn off my devices, it's a personal choosing nothing more.

Congrats for your "second" toy. I did not compare the covers as one (Cybook) was bought, and the other (Sony) comes with the reader.
It has not become comfortable to me to read with the Sony cover on, yet, maybe in the future.
Anyway, it was just a verification of something I have never seen reported about the reader before.
