I think you've always been able to just drag and drop DRM-free epubs. (Disclaimer: I never had a Kobo Wifi, and my memory's not always great.)
As we are talking of software and loading books, can I ask if any ereader, other than the kindle, has such a thing as the 'send to kindle' facility? I find this very useful when sending to my wifes kindle and am thinking of upgrading from my cybook gen3.
