I'm not qualified to speak of the newer generation Sonys. I only know that there's a severe limit on the number of characters that the 600 will import on any given text quote.
For example, on page 25 of
59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot by Richard Wiseman, I highlighted the following passage:

That, in my book, makes the PRS-600 an extremely poor choice for anyone who uses their reader for research. Whether the newer generation Sonys have overcome this limitation is a question to which I don't have the answer.
